For months I was hesitant to post part of a course assignment here on my blog—lest its educational purposefulness detract from the deeply personal and courageously suffered for artwork featured on this website—but this cover design for Feathers, the too-hot-to-publish “journal of arts and letters” demands to be shared, stared (at) and enjoyed across the Internet.

The design, a digital illustration for the issue’s feature story on artist Kenny Craine, consists of famous images from his PERT SKERN project combined with a “journey into a computer”/grade nine science textbook motif to, if I may say so myself, striking, powerful effect. Take special note of the serendipitously placed skern of the bare male buttocks, whose fleshly mass gently leads the eye from the magazine title up top to the story headlines along the right hand side. Virtuoso work, indeed!
